The Wholesale Client Experience

You may optionally allow wholesale clients to access their accounts using the website www.managepayroll.com. For these clients, the Intuit Online Payroll name has been substantially removed. The screenshot below shows the Payday page. Notice that your firm's name will be prominently displayed along the top, while the Intuit Online Payroll name is not present.

The screenshot below is an example of a payday reminder that has been sent to both the accountant and the client. Notice that the From Name is filled with your firm's name. The Reply To field contains your email address, so that if your client replies to the email, it will be sent to you directly. The Intuit Online Payroll name is not present in the email.

The Retail Client Experience

You can allow retail clients to access their accounts. Retail clients deal directly with Intuit Online Payroll. Have them sign in from iop.intuit.com. Your own firm's name will be prominently displayed along the top alongside the Intuit Online Payroll name. Email communication that retail clients receive will come from Intuit Online Payroll.

From within your master account,

  • When working on a wholesale client who has been given sign-in access, you will see the same content that your client will see on www.managepayroll.com. The Intuit Online Payroll name has been substantially removed.
  • When working on a wholesale client who has not been given login access, a retail client, or your own firm's payroll, you will see the standard content that contains the Intuit Online Payroll name.

Steps to Providing Sign-in Access

You can add client access when you set up a client, or you can add it from the Contract Information page.

  1. From the Edit Contact Information page, click Provide Client Access next to the business name.
  2. Select Set Up Client Access Now.
  3. Select the level of access you want to provide your client, then click OK.
  4. Enter a Temporary User ID and Temporary Password for your client (you must enter the password twice), then enter the contact email address.
Note: The User ID must be 6-32 characters with no spaces. The password must be a minimum of 8 characters with no spaces, and must contain at least one non-alphabetic character. We recommend using a phrase instead of a word (example: Like2Sn@p_Fotos).
  5. Have your clients sign in to the appropriate site using the temporary sign-in information you used when providing acces:
    1. Wholesale clients: www.managepayroll.com
    2. Retail clients: iop.intuit.com
Note: After your clients sign in using the temporary sign-in information you provided, they'll be prompted to change the password. The new password can be kept confidential since you can access all of your clients' accounts directly from the Client List page.

Issues regarding the client's payroll are communicated via email. By default, all emails are sent to both you and the email address that you specify for your client. You can change the email settings at any time from the Email Preferences page. From the Setup tab in the client's account, click Preferences, then click Email Preferences. On the Email Preferences page, you can specify who receives which emails.

Your client now has the access level you specified. Clarify with your clients exactly which payroll tasks you expect them to perform and which you will perform.
